Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a step to the login process. This helps protect the security of your Snapchat account. When you have two-factor authentication turned on and you log in to Snapchat for the first time from a new device, you’ll be asked to enter a Login Code.
You can use a trusted app like Google Authenticator (iOS/Android) or Duo (iOS/Android) to generate Login Codes. These apps generate single-use codes that only work for a short time.
To set up two-factor authentication using an authenticator app…
- Tap ⚙️ in My Profile to open Settings
- Tap ‘Two-Factor Authentication’
- Tap ‘Continue’
- Select ‘Authentication App’ as your verification method
⚠️Please note: If you use an authenticator app to generate Login Codes for two-factor authentication, you may lose access to your account if you…
- Restore your phone to its original factory settings
- Lose or delete the app you used to enable two-factor authentication
- Lose your device and your Recovery Code
