What are Crystals and how are they awarded?
Crystals are awarded to eligible Creators that engage in payment-eligible activities on Snapchat. After receiving Crystals, you can cash them out for money in the Crystals Hub in My Profile! Additionally, all award history and activity can all be viewed in the Crystals Hub. To open the Crystals Hub, navigate to your Profile and scroll down to ‘My Snap Crystals.’
If you are eligible to receive Snap Crystals from a Spotlight Submission or are an eligible Snap Star (with or without a pending Crystals Award), you will receive a push notification and will be notified in My Profile. Tap on the push notification or navigate to My Profile and tap ‘My Snap Crystals’ to open the Crystals Hub.
When you receive an Award, it will be displayed in the ‘All Activity’ section of the Crystals Hub as ‘Pending.’ Crystals take 14 days from the time of appearance in the ‘All Activity’ section of the Crystals Hub to move from ‘Pending’ to ‘Available,’ at which time they will become available for cashing out.
Pro Tip 💡 Make sure you have push notifications enabled for Snapchat so you don’t miss any award notifications!
Please Note: Crystals are used solely to track payment-eligible activities on Snapchat. They are not intended to confer or imply any rights or represent any obligation; do not constitute property; are not transferable or assignable; and may not be purchased or the subject of a sale, barter, or exchange.
How do I cash out Crystals once I am onboarded?
Now that you are onboarded, you can begin collecting Snap Crystals and make your first Cash Out via the steps below:
- When you are granted a Crystals Award, you will be sent a push notification. Navigate to the Crystals Hub by tapping on ‘My Snap Crystals’ in My Profile. Please note that the push notification is not immediate and may take several hours to receive.
- When you receive an Award, it will be displayed in the ‘All Activity’ section of the Crystals Hub as ‘Pending.’ Crystals take 14 days from the time of appearance in the ‘All Activity’ section of the Crystals Hub to move from ‘Pending’ to ‘Available,’ at which time they will become available for cashing out.
- After your Crystals move from ‘Pending’ to ’Available,’ your total Available balance will be displayed at the top of the Crystals Hub, along with the USD cash out value.
Please Note: Crystals Awards are subject to your ongoing compliance with the Community Guidelines, Spotlight Guidelines, Terms of Service, Spotlight Terms, Spotlight Challenges Official Rules, and any other applicable terms governing our Services. Non-compliance may result in the invalidation of pending and/or available Crystals Awards.
- When you are ready to get paid your available Crystals in USD, tap the ‘Cash Out’ button! Doing so will initiate a cash out of all available Crystals to USD that will be made available in your Snapchat Payout Portal via Hyperwallet. Note that in order to initiate a payment, you will need to have enough available Crystals for at least a $100 USD payment. Please also note that it typically takes an additional 14 days or longer for cash to be sent to your Snapchat Payout Portal via Hyperwallet after you have initiated a Cash Out from the Snapchat app.
You may choose to cash out as you please, but note that (subject to your compliance with the Community Guidelines, Spotlight Guidelines, Terms of Service, Spotlight Terms, Spotlight Challenges Official Rules, and any other applicable terms governing our Services) we will initiate a cash out directly to your Snapchat Payout Portal account if you (i) have an Available Balance that has remained unchanged for one year OR hasn’t been cashed out in two years, and (ii) have enough available Crystals for at least a $100 USD payment.
If your accounts are not in good standing or you have not satisfied the requirements outlined above, you will no longer be eligible to receive payment for Crystals Awards after one year or two years (as applicable) from initial award.
- Once your payment is available in your Snapchat Payout Portal via Hyperwallet, you’ll need to withdraw your funds using the withdrawal method of your choice. You can choose from multiple withdrawal options (such as bank account or PayPal) when you withdraw funds from your Snapchat Payout Portal. Check out the Hyperwallet FAQ for more information.
When you withdraw funds (if any) from your Snapchat Payout Portal, you will be charged applicable transaction fees (listed in the link below) by our third-party payment provider. The specific transaction fees you will be charged are based on the method you choose to withdraw your funds and, if applicable, the currency to which you choose to convert your funds (if other than US Dollars).

What if I already have a Payout Portal account from Spotlight payouts? Do I have to create another one?
If you already have a Snapchat Payout Portal, you won’t need to create another account. You can use the same account to request payment for Crystals if you were previously eligible for Spotlight payouts.
I want to opt out of Spotlight payouts and/or Crystals.
We’re always working to improve the Snapchat Spotlight and Crystals experience on both platforms. Please keep an eye on your device's app store for new updates! In the meantime, if you do not wish to opt into Spotlight payouts or Crystals, we recommend not completing the onboarding process.

You can check to see if you have pending Crystals Awards by going to My Profile and tapping ‘My Snap Crystals.’
