Yes, content that we promote to non-followers on the Stories page is moderated, unless it’s editorial content that has been produced by media companies, such as Publisher Stories or Shows.
You can now see moderation decisions for Public Stories, Spotlights, Saved Stories, and Saved Spotlights in both the Snapchat app and in Story Studio.
Any user within your organization with Org Admin, Profile Admin or Editor member roles on a Profile can view and manage moderation alerts within the Snapchat app and in Story Studio.
What does the "submitted" status mean?
Stories:
When you post a snap to a public story, it typically is immediately available to your followers to view. Before it can be viewed by non-followers in Discover, it must be reviewed. All public content is reviewed by a combination of machine and human moderation. Sometimes your content may take longer to be reviewed and at other times it may be reviewed quickly. Keep an eye on any additional notifications to understand if your snaps are fully available to non-followers or have limited distribution.
Spotlight:
When you post a snap on Spotlight, it must be reviewed before it is allowed distribution. All public content is reviewed by a combination of machine and human moderation. Sometimes your content may take longer to be reviewed and at other times it may be reviewed quickly. Keep an eye on any additional notifications to understand if your snaps are fully available to non-followers or have limited distribution.
What does "limited reach" status mean?
Limited reach means your distribution to some or all non-followers is limited as your Snap does not comply with our guidelines which determine whether content can be recommended in Discover and Spotlight to non-followers.
Why are you showing me this information?
We believe that education and awareness is always the best approach for creators particularly when certain policies (here) can impact your audience distribution and engagement. We want to give our creators as much information as possible so our creators can understand what type of content will work best to maximize their engagement and why shifts in engagement may occur.
Is this type of review of my content a new policy / process?
We have moderated content in Discover and Spotlight for many years. These policies and processes are not new. The change here is that we are providing awareness to creators about moderation in app.
What does this mean for my engagement and my account?
If your Snap has a "limited reach" notification, it means it will not be visible to some or all Snapchatters who do not follow you in Discover and/or Spotlight. For Snaps that have limited reach, you will notice less engagement coming from non-followers. It’s important to note that we have always moderated content so limiting reach for non-compliant Snaps is not a new process for this launch.
I do not agree with your moderation of my Snap. What can I do?
Currently, you can appeal moderation for Saved Stories and Spotlights directly in-app. You cannot appeal moderation for Public Stories in app at this time. We always recommend you review our policies (here) to ensure you are certain your Snap is in compliance.
