When you join Snapchat and use our features, we ask for your phone number. Here’s why:
- Account security. Your phone number helps with account verification and two-factor authentication, enhancing your account's security.
- Stay updated. Snap may text you with account alerts and updates, pending friend requests, and more.
- Find friends easily. If you prefer not to be found by your phone number, you can opt out under 'Mobile Number' in Settings.
- Ads. Snap may use your phone number to help personalize ads you see.
- For more information about other uses, view our Privacy Policy.
💡 To verify your phone number, we may send you a one-time verification code via SMS or WhatsApp, and autofill the code for easier sign-in. Learn more about autofilling on WhatsApp here.
