Flashback Memories will show up as a Featured Story in Memories if you have a saved Snap dating back at least one year to the day. You can share this Story with friends, save it to your camera roll, or just reminisce about old times.
Flashback Memories don't last forever and are set to expire after a certain amount of time.
Why does my Featured Story title describe my Snaps instead of a date?
Some Featured Stories in Memories, including Flashbacks, may show a short personalized title that describes what is in the story (for example, a hobby or place from your saved Snaps) instead of a generic date-based name. This uses generative AI to summarize your own Memories. Learn more in our article on Generative AI on Snapchat.
What are chapters in a Featured Story?
When a Story has enough saved Snaps and distinct themes, the Flashback may be split into chapters. A short label can appear while you watch each chapter. Snaps inside a chapter still play in the order you saved them.
What if my Story looks like it did before?
If personalization is not available for your account or for that Story, you will see the same style of title and playback as today. You still get a Featured Story.
Is this the same as my year-end Snapchat Recap?
No. Featured Stories in Memories, including personalized titles and chapters, are separate from your annual Snapchat Recap, which is a different year-end Story.
I got a notification about a Recap but the story is gone
Featured Stories expire after a set time. If you open a notification after a Story has expired, you may see a message that the Recap has already wrapped. Open Memories to see current Featured Stories.

Please Note: Flashback pulls Snaps from your general Memories, never from My Eyes Only.
