What are the different profile labels on Snapchat?
Some profiles on Snapchat may display a special label. These labels help you understand more about who you’re interacting with and how that account uses Snapchat. Specifically, these labels are used for:
- Snap Star Profiles (public figures and creators who have been verified by Snap), and
- Snapchat+ Subscribers (a subscription that comes with premium exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features)
These labels are designed to increase transparency and help reduce the risk of impersonation, scams, or misleading information. You’ll see label information directly on a user’s Profile.
What are Snap Star Profiles?
A Snap Star is a public figure, creator, or personality who has been verified by Snap and meets our quality, authenticity, and safety standards.
Why might I see a Snap Star label?
The Snap Star badge helps you know that:
- The account is operated by the real person or an authorized team, and
- Snap has confirmed their identity and public presence to the best of its ability.
This helps reduce impersonation and makes it easier to find authentic public figures.
How does Snapchat verify Snap Stars?
Snap reviews each Snap Star application to confirm that:
- The person is a real public figure or creator,
- Their identity matches the account, and
- The account follows our safety and authenticity standards.
Snap also has safeguards in place to help ensure Snap Star profiles aren’t accessed or changed by someone else.
How are labels applied or removed?
Snap only applies a label after reviewing the account and confirming it meets the requirements of the Snap Star Program:
A label may be removed if:
- The account no longer meets program requirements,
- The creator’s role or participation changes,
- Snap can’t confirm account ownership,
- The creator asks to remove the label, or
- The account violates Snap’s policies.
Snap Stars can request label removal through the in-app Support section or via the Help Center.
How are Snap Star accounts treated on Snapchat?
Snap applies the same Community Guidelines to everyone. However, profiles that have broader reach or public influence may receive additional review to help keep users safe.
For labelled profiles:
- Content may receive extra checks before appearing in places like Spotlight or Stories,
- Unauthorized access attempts may trigger enhanced security steps, and
- Snap may review more signals to protect against impersonation or suspicious behaviour.
These safeguards help keep profiles secure and help ensure labels remain accurate and trustworthy.
What are Snapchat+ Profiles?
A Snapchat+ badge indicates that an account holder is a subscriber to Snap’s optional paid subscription offering.
Why might I see a Snapchat+ badge?
The Snapchat+ or Snapchat Platinum badge helps you understand that:
- The account holder has chosen to subscribe to Snapchat+ or Snapchat Platinum, which provides access to additional, optional features, and
- The account holder has opted to display their subscriber badge or is using a subscriber-exclusive feature.
Subscription badges are off by default and are only visible if a subscriber chooses to enable them or engages with features that surface subscriber status.
These badges do not indicate identity verification, authenticity, or endorsement by Snap, and are not intended to distinguish public figures or reduce impersonation risk.
Where can I see label information?
You can find information about a label:
- Right on the user’s Profile, explaining why the label was added and what it means, and
- On the Public Profiles and Creature Features Help Center Page, where you can learn more about Snap Star Labels labels.
- On the Snapchat+ Help Center Page, where you can learn more about Snapchat+ features.
This information is written to be clear and accessible for users of all ages, and is designed to work with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other accessibility tools.
