Mutual friends are Snapchatters you and another person are both friends with. Seeing mutual friends can help you confirm you’re adding the right person.
When will I see another Snapchatter’s mutual friends list?
- You’ll only see a mutual friends list of another user if both you and the other Snapchatter have turned on sharing mutual friends.
- Please Note: If you have turned on sharing mutual friends while the other Snapchatter whose profile page you’re looking at has not, then no mutual friends will be displayed.
- If both of you are sharing mutual friends, you can view the list of mutual friends on that Snapchatter’s profile page.
- Please Note: If one or more mutual friends don’t appear in the mutual friends list, that may mean that those users have not turned on Mutual Friends.
How do I turn mutual friends list on/off?
Sharing your mutual friends list with others, along with appearing in others’ mutual friends lists, is your choice to enable.
Once enabled, you can follow these steps to disable it at any time:
- Go to your Profile
- Tap the edit icon
- Disable the "Show Mutual Friends List" toggle. You can also find 'Mutual Friends' under "My Privacy & Data' in settings and toggle it off there.
Why can't I see a mutual friends list?
There are several reasons why you may not be seeing a mutual friends list...
- You may not have any mutual friends with that user
- The other person may not be sharing mutual friends yet
- The mutual friends between you and the other user have not turned on their Mutual Friends setting and therefore remain hidden
- The feature may not be available for that account or region
