What kind of Snaps appear on Snap Map?
Snaps that are posted to Snap Map may be viewable for different amounts of time – some for only a day or two, while others can be seen for much longer.
Automated systems monitor Snaps submitted to Snap Map. It's hard to say if and when your Snap will appear. Please note that selfies, user mentions, Camera roll, or Memories content will not make it to the Snap Map.
To increase chances of your Snap making it to the Map, try to capture what’s happening around you! We're looking for Snaps that provide a window into everyday life such as a place or an event in your community.
How do I submit a Snap to Snap Map?
To post a Snap to Snap Map...
- Create a Snap
- Select 'Snap Map' at the top of the 'Send To' screen
- Tap the
button to submit!
Does my username appear on my Snap Map posts?
If you’re over 18, by default, your username will appear on your Snap Map posts.
Users under 18 are unable to post to Snap Map with their username attached.
Can I change if my username appears on my Snap Map posts?
You can choose to share a Snap to Snap Map without your username or Public Profile attached to it.
There are two ways you can change the ‘Display My Username’ setting at this time.
To change the ‘Display My Username’ setting from Settings…
- Tap the gear icon ⚙️in your Profile to go to Settings
- Scroll to ‘Privacy Controls’
- Tap ‘Map’
- Toggle ‘Display My Username’ on or off
To change the ‘Display My Username’ setting from Settings…

Please note that after you submit to Snap Map, you can’t retroactively go back and change the ‘Display My Username’ setting for a Snap that you already submitted.
