Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a step to the login process. This helps protect the security of your Snapchat account. When you have two-factor authentication turned on, and you log in to Snapchat you’ll always be asked to enter a Login Code.
Snapchat can send Login Codes to the mobile number that’s linked to your Snapchat account via SMS text messages.
⚠️ Important:
- 2FA enabled accounts require two-factor authentication to log in — including if you forget your password and need to reset it. This helps keep your account safe from compromised phone or email accounts.
- If you choose to enable 2FA, you must add both a mobile number and an email address to your account and keep them up to date. This ensures you can maintain access to your account, even if you forget your password.
- For even stronger security, we recommend using an authenticator app or passkey in addition to your recovery information.
To set up two-factor authentication using an authenticator app, follow the steps below.
- Tap the gear icon ⚙️ in My Profile to open Settings
- Tap ‘My Account’ and scroll down to ‘Manage My Account’
- Tap ‘Two-Factor Authentication’ and ‘Continue’
- Select ‘SMS’ as your verification method
⚠️ Please note: If you use an authenticator app to generate Login Codes for two-factor authentication, you may lose access to your account if you…
- Change your phone number
- Restore your phone to its original factory settings
