I want to deactivate or delete my Snapchat account
To deactivate or delete your Snapchat account, follow the steps below. This will deactivate an account for 30 days, during which time the account can still be reactivated. After 30 more days the account will be permanently deleted.
- Log in to the Snapchat accounts portal
- Tap 'Delete My Account'
- Input your password
- Tap 'Continue' to confirm account deactivation/deletion
- Tap the ⚙️ button in the Profile screen to open Settings
- Scroll down to “Account Actions”
- Tap 'Delete Account'
- Log in to the Snapchat accounts portal
- Tap 'Delete My Account'
- Input your password
- Tap 'Continue' to confirm account deactivation/deletion
- Log in to the Snapchat accounts portal
- Tap 'Delete My Account'
- Input your password
- Tap 'Continue' to confirm account deactivation/deletion
If you’re having trouble logging in to the accounts portal because you forgot your password, you can reset it.
Please Note: Some deleted account data is retained for legal, security and business needs. For example, we’ll retain information about any purchases you may have made through Snapchat, and when you accepted our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
What happens to my data when I deactivate my account?
After you deactivate or delete your account, you will have 30 days to download your data. If you do not log in or download your data within the first 30 days, your data will be permanently deleted after 60 days.
If you’re located in India, you will have 30 days to download your data after your account has been deactivated or deleted. If you do not log in or download your data within the first 30 days, your data will be permanently deleted after 210 days.
