Older teens on Snapchat ages 16 and 17 who are interested in sharing content they create with a wider audience are able to post content to their ‘content pages’ — a public destination within their profile built with thoughtful protections in place. These capabilities are rolling out slowly and may not be available to you just yet.
16-17 year olds will be able to do the following, all while maintaining the highest privacy settings by default:
- Add a profile photo, cover photo, and bio to the publicly viewable content page within their profile
- Add or save Snaps to this publicly viewable page within their profile
- Post videos to Spotlight with their username shown
- Post to a public Story
- View and quote Story replies and comments
- View analytics about their public Stories and Spotlights
How is the 16-17 experience different from the 18+ experience?
- Spotlight Snaps posted by users ages 16-17 will by default:
- Have remixing turned off, so there is never any unwanted use of their content
- Not be saved to their Public Profile, and will only appear there if intentionally added
- Users under 18 are not able to post to Snap Map with their username shown or Profile attached.
- By default, all users can only communicate with their mutually accepted friends, or if they choose, friends and contacts saved in their phone. With public posting options, by default, 16-17 year olds can receive Story replies from those who follow them, but cannot have a chat conversation with the replier unless they are mutually accepted friends. Users can turn off story replies at any time.
