Please Note: This feature is rolling out to Snapchat+ subscribers slowly and may not be available to you just yet.
As a Snapchat+ subscriber, you get exclusive access to the Snap Modes feature, which lets you customize how your Snaps are delivered or viewed.
Here’s how to access Snap Modes:
- Take a Snap
- On the preview screen, tap the Snap Modes icon on the right side of the screen
- Choose “One Time Only” or “View It Or Lose It”

One Time Only Snaps
If you select One Time Only mode, your Snap can only be viewed one time and cannot be replayed. One Time Only Snaps cannot be saved in chats.
View It or Lose It
If you select View It or Lose It mode, you can choose how long friends have to open your Snap before it disappears; either 30s, 1 min, 5 min, 10 min, or 60 mins. If your Snap has not been viewed once the selected time expires, your Snap will no longer be viewable by friends.
- If a View It or Lose It Snap Snap is opened by a friend before it expires, it will be treated like a normal Snap. This means that friends can save the Snap in chat, or view it multiple times if “Keep Snaps in Chat” is turned on.
- If a View It or Lose It Snap Snap is sent to a group chat, any member in the group can view the Snap before it expires. If any member in the group chat saves the Snap in chat, it can be viewed by everyone in the group chat even if other members did not open the Snap before it expires.
- View It or Lose It Snap Snaps adhere to the same retention policy as other Snaps.
Please Note:
- Depending on which device or version of the app your friends have, Snap Modes might not work as intended. In this case the Snap will be delivered as a normal Snap.
- At this time, if you select a Snap Mode, you can only send it to friends in 1:1 or group chats. The Snap mode will not be applied to a Snap if it is posted to your Story or Spotlight.
