How do I use Arrival Notifications?

What are Arrival Notifications?

Arrival Notifications let you automatically tell close friends when you arrive at places you choose—like home, school, or a hotel. When you arrive at a place you’ve set up notifications for, your friend gets a push notification and a notice in Chat. Tapping the notification opens your Chat together.

How do I add a place to start sending Arrival Notifications when I get there?

From Friend Profile:

1. Tap on a friends profile
2. Scroll to the Snap Map section
3. Under ‘Arrival Notifications’, tap ‘Add’
4. Move the map to set the spot, then tap ‘Set Location’

From Chat: 

1. Open a Chat with your friend
2. Tap the Map icon in the chat to open the location tray
3. Under ‘Arrival Notifications’, tap ‘Add’
4. Move the map to set the spot, then tap ‘Set Location’

Arrival notifications will default to ‘off’ even after you add a location from Friend Profile or Chat (toggle will appear gray). To turn on: 

1. Under ‘Arrival Notifications,’ tap the toggle to turn a place ‘on’
2. Choose ‘One time’ or ‘Every time’
3. ‘One time’ notification settings expire after 24 hours. ‘Every time’ notification settings stay on until you turn them off.
4. Toggle will appear black when it is ‘on’

If you want, you can choose a name and emoji for the place you want to add.

If you’ve set up a home location, all you need to do is toggle on “My Home.” There is no need to add your home address to your arrival list manually. 

Please Note:

• To enable Arrival Notifications, you must set your device’s location settings to “Always”. This means you will be visible on the Map to friends that can see your location unless you are in Ghost Mode. Please remember to check your in-app location sharing settings frequently. • If you stop sharing your location with a friend (including using Ghost Mode), you will automatically stop sending them Arrival Notifications.
• Your friend can also choose to stop receiving your Arrival Notifications. See below for more info.

How do I remove a place from sending Arrival Notifications when I get there?

To remove a place from your list, press and hold on the Place and delete it. This removes alerts for that place for everyone.

How many places can I send Arrival Notifications for?

You can save up to ten places. Your saved list is the same across friends. You can decide who gets notified about your arrivals.

How do I stop receiving Arrival Notifications from my friend?

1. Open a Chat with your friend
2. Press on the blue linked text in your Chat that identifies the location 
3. Tap the three dots for a menu and choose ‘Stop receiving notification’
