Snaps that are posted to Spotlight may also appear in Search results and Stories on or off Snapchat — now or in the future. Snaps that are submitted to Spotlight must adhere to our Spotlight Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Spotlight Terms.
From a Topic Chat, you can also start a Spotlight post by pressing and holding a supported message, tapping ‘Snap’, capturing your Snap, then tapping ‘Spotlight’ on the left side of the preview. See How do I share a Topic Chat message on Spotlight? for the full steps.
To post to Spotlight from the Main Camera preview
- Create a video Snap that’s 5 seconds or longer
- On the preview screen, tap the ‘Post’ button (this appears instead of the Stories button when your video is eligible for Spotlight)
- Add a description, location, or #topic if you like
- Tap the blue triangle button to submit!
Please Note: The ‘Post’ button appears on the Main Camera preview when you’re 16 or older, you’re in a region where Spotlight posting is enabled, and your video is 5 seconds or longer. Your post will also be shared to your Story by default. You can turn this off on the New Spotlight Post page before you submit.
To post to Spotlight from the 'Send To' screen
- Create a video Snap
- Select 'Spotlight' at the top of the 'Send To' screen
- Tap the edit pencil to add a description, location, or #topic, if you like. Tap ‘Next’ when you’re done!
- Tap the blue triangle button to submit!
Your Snap Comments may also be submitted to Spotlight. You can reply to a Spotlight post with a Snap Comment:
- While watching a Spotlight post, open the comments
- Tap the Camera icon.
- Take a Snap (or pick one from Memories) and post it!
- Note that this Snap Comment will also become a new Spotlight post, so it may appear on other parts of the app.
You can also post to Spotlight by tapping ‘Post to Spotlight’ from My Account and uploading content as a new Spotlight post, or by taking a Snap.
If you’re 16+ you have the option to allow others to remix your Snap and/or show the Snap on your Public Profile. These options will be off by default if you’re 16-17, and on by default if you’re 18+.
Tip: If you're already watching Spotlight, you can also tap the "+" card icon to upload or create a Snap for Spotlight.
