If you see the backup icon on a Snap or Story in Memories, it means it isn’t backed up yet!
To verify that your Memories are completely backed up…
- Tap the gear icon ⚙️ in My Profile to open Settings
- Scroll down to ‘Apps & Privacy’ and tap ‘My App’
- Scroll down to ‘Customize My App’ and tap ‘Memories’
- Check that ‘Backup Progress’ says “Complete”
If ‘Backup Progress’ says “# Snaps Remaining,” or “No Network Connection,” then your Memories are not completely backed up! Make sure your device has good cellular service or is connected to Wi-Fi.
It’s not possible to recover lost Memories that weren’t successfully backed up. Always make sure your Memories are completely backed up before you log out of Snapchat, log into Snapchat on a different device, or uninstall Snapchat!
Please note that we do not back-up your camera roll media to Memories.
